MRI Scans May Help Predict Alzheimer’s Risk

WEDNESDAY, April 6 (HealthDay News) — MRI brain scans may help predict which adults with mild cognitive impairment — early-stage memory problems that don’t interfere with daily living — are more likely to develop full-blown Alzheimer’s disease, a new study suggests.

Texas among states with highest unpaid Alzheimer’s caregiver contributions

There are more than 1.2 million Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers in the state. In 2010, these caregivers provided 1.38 million hours of unpaid care valued at nearly $16.5 billion, according to a study released this week by the Alzheimer’s Association.
